About Northwest Community Hospital:

Volunteer Opportunities

At Northwest Community Hospital, Volunteers Make a Difference.
Hundreds of caring, compassionate volunteers contribute their time and talents to enhance the quality of medical care we provide. Our volunteers assist patients, their families and friends in many ways... they support the medical professionals who provide patient care... they offer a welcoming voice, a friendly face and directions to those who visit our facilities... and much more. If you are interested in making a difference in your community, consider becoming a Northwest Community volunteer.

More than 800 volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life dedicate over 100,000 hours each year to help support NCH's mission. Our volunteers – your neighbors – make a significant impact in our community.

There are several important ways to volunteer with Northwest Community Hospital. You can get involved in one of our many committees, or you can volunteer to help at one of our fund-raising events. Interacting with your neighbors to ensure community health and wellness is a noble endeavor with a gratifying and rewarding effect.

Volunteers are needed seven days a week, morning, afternoon, and evening. Whether you're retired, working full time or caring for your family, Northwest Community offers volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule. A wide range of positions are also available for teens age 14 and older. We ask only that you be willing to commit to as least three hours of service a week. Volunteers are needed not only in the hospital, but also at our other locations including the Treatment Centers in Buffalo Grove, Lake Zurich and Schaumburg.

For more information about volunteering at Northwest Community, and to obtain an application, you may e-mail us or call the Volunteer Services Department at 847.618.4450.

It's a great way to make a difference!

Meet Our Volunteers
"When our last child was in second grade, I wanted to give something back, so I started volunteering at Northwest Community. I've worked on the oncology floor for the last nine years. The people there are truly amazing - the nurses and the patients, too. It teaches you what people can do in the face of adversity. I feel good when I come home."

    Diana Bloem, Resident of Inverness
    Volunteer since 1986

"Volunteering is a lot of fun. I'm considering becoming a doctor, and by volunteering at the hospital, I learn a lot of interesting things. I usually work at the reception desk, but I get to go to all the patient floors and into many areas of the hospital. It's a good experience for me."

Alok Kothari, age 15, Fremd High School
    Volunteer since 1997

"I began volunteering shortly after I retired as an accounting manager for Shell Oil in 1988. It's satisfying for me to help people who are in need. We get some really positive feedback from patients and their families."

Paul Weston, Resident of Arlington Heights
    Volunteer since 1989

"As a volunteer, you know you're doing something to benefit the community. Working in the Emergency Department is amazing . . . when my four hours are up, I don't want to go home, because there's more here I could do."
