Community Health and Outreach - Mobile Dental Clinic
The Mobile Dental Clinic is part of the existing medical outreach program of Northwest Community Hospital. The clinic provides necessary dental care to community residents in our service area who do not have access to dental care due to financial barriers.
This clinic is operating in partnership with Wheeling, Elk Grove and Palatine townships.

Patient financial screening will be provided by the townships. Patients must financially qualify through the township in which they reside, which must be one of the three listed. Financial assistance is provided with grant support from the Chicago Dental Society and the Best Foundation. The clinic provides services at the township buildings and various other locations within these townships. The clinic is staffed by a full time dental director, a full time bilingual dental assistant and a full time program manager. Volunteer dentists, UIC College of Dentistry fourth year dental students, hygienists and assistants also provide care.

The Need
- Tooth decay is the most common childhood disease.
- Oral health is one of the major determinants of overall health.
- The poor and the underserved are 2-3 times more likely to suffer from oral disease.
- 35-40,000 people in our service area are without dental benefits.
- Direct and indirect cost to society accounts for millions of dollars each year.
Scope of Treatment
- Preventive: Oral exam, Cleaning, Fluoride treatment, X-rays and Sealants
- Restorative: Cavity treatment and Simple extractions
- Educational: Instruction on correct Brushing & Flossing techniques and maintaining good oral health
Eligibility and Fees
Residents of Elk Grove, Palatine and Wheeling Townships will be screened by individual townships to determine eligibility for treatment. For patients that are not receiving Medicaid or General Assistance, there will be a fee of $25 for each visit at the clinic.
Appointments
Patients need to be financially screened by their township. After being qualified, you will be given the phone number of the dental clinic to make an appointment. The dental clinic does not accept walk-ins.

How Can You Contribute Towards This Project?
We are asking you to donate 4 - 8 hours of your valuable time every month/quarter to provide care for the underserved and give back to the community in a meaningful way. For those who are unable to volunteer their time at the clinic we are asking you to accept no-charge referrals from our clinic into your practice.
How will Northwest Community support you if you become a part of this project?
- All volunteer providers will have professional liability provided by Northwest Community Hospital.
- Only truly poor people will qualify for services.
- If you want to accept referrals, we will refer only the number of patients you want per month. (Example: 1 per month or as per your request).
- Public recognition for services.
