A new phase in NCH's unique partnership with Children's Memorial Hospital

NCH and Children’s Memorial Hospital are expanding services to bring you the very best in pediatric care. Board certified emergency doctors from Children’s Memorial Hospital are now on-site 24 hours a day.

Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) Certification

NCH’s pediatric ED has been recognized by the state of Illinois as providing the highest level of care for children. The pediatric ED staff is specially trained to care for children using child-sized equipment and following guidelines for age-appropriate medications.

Multidisciplinary staff trained in child development

  • Children’s Memorial Hospital pediatric specialists are on site 24 hours a day and are available to see children in the ED when the pediatric ED is closed
  • Board certified or board-eligible CMH pediatric emergency medicine doctors
  • Nurse practitioners are masters-prepared, board certified and have specialized expertise in pediatric and emergency care. They also are PALS certified.
  • Registered nurses have experience in the care of pediatric emergency patients and have received training in PALS and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) as well as trauma and cardiac care

Patient Service Hours

  • 9 am to 1 am daily
  • When facility is closed, pediatric specialists are available for consultation in the adult ED
