Leadership that counts

Dr. Willis Parsons is medical director of the NCH Gastrointestinal Center. He is a board certified gastroenterologist recognized nationally for his work in advanced endoscopic procedures and the management of pancreatic disease. His background, leadership and experience ensure that you receive the best possible care to meet your specific needs.

Dr. Eric J. Yegelwel, chief of Gastroenterology since 2008, has been a board-certified gastroenterologist at Northwest Community Hospital since 1989. Dr. Yegelwel interned and did his residency at the University of Illinois after graduating from New Jersey Medical School. He also had a fellowship at Loyola University.

Dr. Anita Spiess, vice chief of Gastroenterology since 2008, arrived at Northwest Community Hospital in 1998. She attended Northwestern University Medical School, where she also completed her residency and Fellowship. She is board-certified in Gastroenterology.

Kathy Lamont RN, BS, MBA is the Director of the Gastroenterology Center at Northwest Community Hospital. She graduated from National Louis University with a Bachelor’s degree in healthcare leadership and a Master’s in Business Administration. She has been the nurse manager of the Gastroenterology Center at Northwest Community Hospital for fourteen years.

• The Gastroenterology Center is staffed with nationally recognized gastroenterologists, highly skilled nurses and technologists
• Together these teams performed more than 12,000 gastrointestinal procedures last year, including over 7,000 colonoscopies, while still providing comfort, convenience and privacy 
• Nurse Navigators provide individual care coordination, education and support to assist you throughout your diagnosis and treatment process 
• Awarded 2009 Healthgrade Clinical Excellence Awards for Gastrointestinal Care Excellence and Gastrointestinal Surgery Excellence
