At Northwest Community Hospital, our Total Joint Replacement Program for hip replacement, knee replacement and other joint replacements is designed to get patients home faster after surgery and back on their feet sooner. Highly trained, experienced board-certified surgeons work side-by-side with specially trained nurses and therapists to take advantage of the latest technologies and advanced pain management techniques.

We focus on integrating a full continuum of care around each joint replacement patient, from initial diagnosis and recommendations from your physician, all the way through to your return home after your procedure.

Our joint replacement program includes:

• Pre-operative preparation for surgery, including a joint replacement class and a one-on-one assessment and education visit with a nurse
• A Joint Replacement Guide and Joint Replacement Patient Checklist
• Pre-admission screening and registration
• A team approach to providing patient- and family-centered care
• Discussions with members of your care team and your family or support network to make sure you understand every step of the process
• Advanced pain management techniques that may include nerve blocks—this advanced pain control procedure cuts down on the pain sensation in the nerve area, allowing us to use less pain medication and leaving you more alert, free of nausea and able to participate more fully in post-surgical rehabilitation
• Physical therapy is available seven days a week so that you get up and moving quicker for a full recovery
• A spacious, private room on the orthopedic unit in the South Pavilion
• Follow-up therapy and home care services that are put in place before you leave the hospital

Dedicated case managers and nurses will track your progress and work with you, your family and your medical team to plan for each stage of your recovery—from inpatient to home care through physical therapy and rehabilitation.
