As part of the Gastroenterology Department, the Illinois Center for Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Diseases provides treatments for pancreatic cancer as well as diseases of the liver, pancreas and bile ducts. These treatments include the Whipple procedure, considered one of the most complex surgeries in existence, second only to organ transplants.
Dr. Malcolm Bilimoria is an expert in the Whipple procedure. As a surgical oncologist specializing in pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgeries, Dr. Bilimoria has averaged 50 to 75 Whipple surgeries per year over the past ten years, compared to some surgeons who may perform only ten a year.
Dr. Willis Parsons is medical director of the NCH Gastroenterology Center. He is a board certified gastroenterologist recognized nationally for his work in advanced endoscopic procedures and the management of pancreatic disease.
