NCH offers a variety of programs and services to make your life easier and more healthy. These include:

  • Drivers Review Course - prepare for your driver’s exam with AARP Safe Drivers Program. Call 847.618.3463.
  • Exercise for Older Adults - improve and maintain strength, tone, flexibility and cardiovascular health at the Wellness Center. Nutritional counseling for weight management is also offered. Call 847.618.3500.
  • Flu Shots - Ward off the flu with a shot this winter. Call 847.618.4FLU after October 1.
  • Senior Celebration Day - This day-long event at Arlington Park features health and community service education presentations, screenings, raffles, giveaways and entertainment. For info about the May 14, 2009 event, phone 847.618.7440.
  • National Senior Health and Fitness Day - NCH teams with eight other agencies to raise awareness of issues and opportunities for seniors and caregivers. Expect to enjoy health and fitness activities and receive great giveaways.
  • Health education and disease prevention programs. Most programs and screenings are free. Call 847.618.7440 or view the Online Events Guide to learn more.

Meal Discounts. Adults age 65+ can eat right at NCH’s Oasis Food Court and receive a 25% discount weekdays on meals between 5 and 7pm and all weekend meals.

  • Free Blood Pressure Screenings - Monitor your blood pressure with no-appointment needed free screenings at NCH and three treatment centers. Click here for times and locations.
  • Free or nominal fee screenings. These include cholesterol, diabetes, skin cancer, prostrate cancer, brown-bag prescription, flexibility, posture, stroke, health risk assessments, ask the dietitian, and hearing. Call 847.618.7440 for more information or click here for locations and times.
  • Walkers Clubs - Get great exercise and meet new friends. Call 847.618.7440 for more info.
  • Life Decisions. Advanced Directives provides healthcare choices before the actual need arises including help in writing living wills and power of attorneys.
  • Spiritual Direction. NCH’s Pastoral Services provide information and referral to community members who do not know where to turn for counseling or spiritual concerns.
  • Older adult mental health services. A wide range of mental health services including

crisis intervention, inpatient stabilization, partial hospitalization, and treatment groups and support groups for clients and families. Call 847.618.4130 for more information.

  • Lifeline. A medical alert home telephone assistance device linking seniors with specially- trained Lifeline support operates on a 24-hour basis. Call 1-800-LIFELINE.
  • Telecare. A daily phone check-in for frail older adults.
