Beginning January 1, 2014, all U.S. residents are required by law to have health insurance. The Health Insurance Marketplace is a new way for those who are currently uninsured or underinsured to find affordable health insurance plans.
Counselors from CEDA NORTHWEST will be offering appointments at Northwest Community Hospital to help you understand the Healthcare Insurance Exchanges. If there is a particular plan in which you would like to enroll, they will also be able to help you do so. Please note: the counselors cannot give any advice on which healthcare exchange plans to choose.
There is no cost or obligation for an appointment with one of CEDA NORTHWEST’s counselors. This program is funded by the Federal Government and administered by the Illinois Department of Public Health, with the assistance from the Illinois Department of Insurance and Illinois Health Exchange Marketplace, "Get Covered Illinois."
To schedule an appointment, call the CEDA NORTHWEST office Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm:
CEDA NORTHWEST counselors are located inside the hospital near Patient Services, and will be available on the following days between December 4, 2013 and March 31, 2014:
Walk-ins are welcome. However, appointments are encouraged.
Important note: The Affordable Care Act requires that you are enrolled in healthcare coverage by March 31, 2014. This coverage can either be through plans offered by your employer, government plans like Medicare or Medicaid or plans offered through the new health insurance exchanges. After March 31, 2014, those without any healthcare insurance will be fined 1 percent of their yearly income or $95.00 per person, whichever is higher. The fee increases every year, rising to 2.5 percent of yearly income or $695.00 per person in 2016.
Please bring the following documents with you to your appointment:
