Helping Patients and Loved Ones Stay in Touch

Northwest Community Hospital recently introduced CarePages, a free online resource that makes it easy for family and friends to stay connected during – and after – a loved one’s stay in the Hospital. It’s part of NCH’s commitment to provide services and resources that support patient- and family-centered care.

CarePages allows families and friends to share health updates online, upload photos and exchange supportive messages – all through a secure and customized webpage. Setting up CarePages takes just a few minutes to complete and is easy to manage. Features and benefits include:

  • Security. Access to an individual’s CarePage is by invite only
  • Sharing. Family and friends can be updated all at once in real time, so repeated phone calls aren’t necessary
  • Support. Patients can receive encouraging messages from family and friends
  • Sincerity. Patients, friends or family can post a note of gratitude for a doctor, clinician or employee for the assistance or care they’ve received.

Those who have been designated to manage a patient’s CarePage can take advantage of the NCH Guest Wireless Network to set up and update a page. The network provides free Internet access in most places throughout the Hospital. Visitors who don’t have an Internet-enabled device can access Carepages via the computers in the Hospital Library or at a designated computer station on select clinical units.

An individual’s CarePage will not expire, even after the patient is discharged from NCH. This allows family and friends to stay in touch and support their loved ones through the entire continuum of care – from Hospital admission to discharge and recovery with home care or at an extended care facility.

Additional information about CarePages is available for patients within the Hospital’s Inpatient Guidebook. Medical staff members, who have questions, can visit, or go to and click on the CarePages icon in the upper right corner.
