Go live for Phase 1 of CareLink CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) was a success! From November 30 – December 10, as part of the Phase I pilot group, 57 physicians and mid-level providers were successfully trained to use the system, enabling them to enter orders on their own patients. "I am very proud of the doctors who participated in the Phase 1 pilot," says John McGillen, MD, medical director. "I'm also grateful for their cooperation and feedback, which helped us to refine CPOE for future phases. They did a terrific job!"
Nursing staff, unit secretaries, trainers, roamers, the IT Command Center and Help Desk provided support for physicians, as well as units and departments. As with all go lives, opportunities for improvement were discovered and resolved. Refinements were made to the system in preparation for Phase 2, which began on January 10. During this phase, it's estimated that 263 physicians and mid-level providers will be trained.
If you haven't already done so, doctors and mid-level providers in Phases 2-4 are highly encouraged to schedule their CPOE training session now. A combination of emails and letters were sent to physician practices to advise you of training session dates and times, how to register, and how to access the recommended computer-based pre-training. Training sessions are filling quickly–so don't delay. To register, call Physician Outreach at 847.618.5280.
