Innovative Program Introduces Doctors to Prospective Patients

Rumana Siddiqui, MD, at left, and Rebekah Ranchero, DO, at right, were two of the physicians to participate in NCH's Finding a Doctor event held in October.

Catherine Wood, MD, was excited to meet with community members who are thoughtful about their care.

Last month, Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) held another Finding a Doctor event, which brought together eight primary care physicians and more than 30 area residents. The free event provided an opportunity for individuals looking for a new doctor to meet one-on-one with physicians from NCH’s medical staff.

The Find a Doctor program is modeled after the concept of speed-dating, but in this case, prospective patients talk with a physician for five minutes and then rotate to the next doctor at the sound of a bell. It’s not only fun, fast and convenient for the community, but also serves to benefit physicians who are looking to build referrals and expand their patient base.

“As a new doctor practicing in Schaumburg, this event is a great opportunity for me to get to know members of the community,” says Rumana Siddiqui, MD, who joined the NCH medical staff last year. “I’m glad the Hospital is doing this and it should certainly help my practice.” NCH staff members were also in attendance to help coordinate next steps for community members who found their right match.

At the event, participants were able to get a feel for each physician’s personality, their approach to care, and areas of interest. Nurit Crystal, MD, who has participated in two Find a Doctor events, says, “This program offers up a new way for doctors to meet patients and start the initial conversation that occurs at transfer of care.”

Plans will be underway to develop a Find a Doctor event for OB/GYNs, pediatricians and other specialists. Interested doctors should e-mail Jackie Speckin, NCH strategic marketing director, at
