Among the Nation’s Top Female Orthopedic Surgeons

Taruna Madhav Crawford, MD, and Mary K. Morrell, MD, are among the top “70 Female Orthopedic and Spine Surgeons to Know” in the nation, according to a new list published by Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review last month. Becker’s conducted an extensive research to identify and recognize surgeons for their excellence in orthopedics, involvement in professional organizations, and leadership in hospital or practice groups.

The Area’s Best at NCH

U.S. News & World Report, in conjunction with Castle Connolly, recently named Bassam Matar, MD, and Rudolph Dolezal, MD, to its list of Top Doctors. Both physicians were recognized as being among the top 10 percent in the region within their respective specialties. With this announcement, approximately 40 NCH medical staff members are now considered Top Doctors by U.S. News.

The extensive survey to identify clinically outstanding doctors is based upon peer nominations and professional assessments by Castle Connolly’s physician-led research team. The review process examines doctors’ medical education, training, hospital appointments, administrative posts, professional achievements, and disciplinary histories. *In addition, Dr. Dolezal was applauded for his achievements by his alma mater, the University of Illinois at Chicago, at its 2011 UIC Best Docs Reception in September.
