NCH President and CEO Bruce Crowther announces retirement
Before the Thanksgiving holiday, President and CEO Bruce Crowther announced that he will retire next year on December 31, 2013. This is a reprint of the email he sent out to all physicians and staff.
Dear Colleague,
I want first to express my best wishes to you for this Thanksgiving Holiday. We all have much to be thankful for.
I also want you to be among the first to hear that after 23 years here at NCH I have notified the Board of Directors of my intent to retire on December 31, 2013. During the coming 13 month period I will continue to function as CEO and, I am pleased to announce that effective 12/1/12 the Board has offered Steve Scogna the role of Chief Operating Officer. Steve has served us well for 1 and ½ years as Chief Financial Officer and in his prior position functioned as CEO at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He is a quality person, an experienced healthcare executive and someone who has my confidence as a leader. As we begin this important transition, I ask that you extend the same support to Steve that you have shown me over the years.
When I joined NCH in 1989, I was given the privilege of working for a year as Chief Operating Officer along side Mac MacCoun as he prepared to retire. This was good for me and good for the organization. I feel the same responsibility today to ensure that this new transition goes well and that NCH is as strong going forward as possible. I am confident that this process will achieve that. You are a great organization today and will be a greater organization tomorrow.
I look forward to my continued service with you over the next year.
Bruce Crowther
