Northwest Community Healthcare is unveiling an electronic patient education program with orthopedic patients beginning in August.
NCH is partnering with Emmi Solutions to provide patients and their families with interactive web-based programs that are designed to educate patients and encourage them to take an active role in their healthcare.
Patients who participate in the web-based program receive information through easy-to-read text and animated graphics and have the opportunity to take notes and initiate questions for their physicians. Patients can access the information on their own time through phones, computers and tablets.
Because the Emmi programs provide patients with supplemental information they receive during office visits, they have been shown to increase quality of care and promote patient safety. Staff members have more time to provide customer service and increase patient satisfaction and reduce the time answering questions.
To sample the programs, visit www.viewemmi.com. The password is NCH2013. NCH plans to roll out the Emmi programs to the full spectrum of patients next year.
