Cancer Services - Ambulatory Infusion Clinic
The Ambulatory Infusion Center (AIC) provides a full range of outpatient infusion and injection services, including chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and treatment with biological response modifiers.
The AIC offers treatment for patients with hematologic, oncologic, and immunologic disorders. Intravenous and injectable services are offered for hydration, infectious disease, vaccinations and pain management.
Comprehensive services are provided by RNs, an Oncology pharmacist, a dietitian, and a licensed social worker, with easy access to laboratory and radiology services.
Chemotherapy services are delivered by qualified staff who have successfully completed and maintained certification with the Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Courses. The AIC provides private infusion areas throughout a 12-hour weekday schedule and a weekend schedule for regiments of more than 5 days.
The Ambulatory Infusion Center provides:
- Antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal and biologic modifer therapy in an outpatient setting.
- Daily, weekly, monthly or one time only injection services including but not limited to the following: (note: if available, a link is provided to the health information drug guide page in our health library for each of these medications)
- Access ports for blood work
- Central venous access device management
- PICC line insertions and maintenance
- Outpatient transfusion of blood products
- IV fluids for hydration
- Chemotherapy infusion
Appointments are necessary, but can be made for the same day by calling 847.618.6760 and choosing prompt number one. The patient needs to have a signed physician order with a diagnosis to assure medical necessity as well as a history and a physical, prenatal record or Emergency Department chart record, dated within the past three months. Subsequent appointments need to demonstrate ongoing care by demonstrating a clinic note or history and physical dated within three months of the date of service.
