As a state-designated trauma center, the Northwest Community Hospital Emergency Department is equipped to provide sophisticated diagnostic and treatment services. We treat more patients than any other hospital in the northwest suburbs.

- Personalized care provided by specially trained emergency medicine physicians and nurses
- Larger diagnostic and treatment areas specifically designed for patients who are critically ill and for those with minor injuries or illnesses
- Special Pediatric Emergency Department and on-site access to Children's Memorial Hospital pediatric specialists for consultations

Technological advances in the Emergency Department:
- Filmless X-ray technology that enables radiologists and emergency physicians to view test results simultaneously.
- 50 registered nurses cover the Emergency Department, all of which are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Most of these nurses are Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) certified, and more than half are Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or Emergency Nurse Peds certified (ENPC).
- A Mental Health Liaison is available 24 hours a day.
- Bedside ultrasound is available for trauma patients requiring quick assessment for major organ injuries.
Patient Satisfaction:
- A patient advocate is available during the Emergency Department's busiest hours to offer families and patients comfort during stressful times.
- NCH's patient satisfaction scores are above the 90th percentile for emergency departments throughout the country with more than 40,000 visits per year (Press Ganey - 4Q2007).
