Nutrition and Food Services - Overview

If you need help with disease management or simply want to improve your and your family's health and nutrition, the Registered Dietitians at Northwest Community Hospital's Outpatient Nutrition Clinic for Medical Nutrition Therapy can help.

A doctor's referral is necessary to receive insurance reimbursement for services at the Nutrition Clinic, but the Nutrition Clinic is open to everyone.

A Registered Dietitian (RD) can help you improve your nutritional status based on your medical condition, lifestyle and food preferences. Northwest Community Hospital dietitians have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics and have completed and internship program and passed a competency exam.

Registered Dietitians teach people how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Making simple choices every day can help you have a healthier heart and positively affect many other medical outcomes. Dietitians can help you with these choices when you're shopping, preparing, or ordering food. It is never too late to develop healthy eating habits. Northwest Community Registered Dietitians can help. They also make dietary recommendations related to:

  • Weight control for children and adults
  • High cholesterol/triglycerides for children and adults
  • Basic nutrition guidelines
  • Prenatal nutrition/lactation
  • Healthy nutrition for children
  • Balance vegetarian eating
  • Food allergies and intolerances
