In a matter of minutes, the neurologist can review the CT scan taken in the ED and determine whether the patient meets criteria for receiving tPA, a clot-busting drug that must be administered within 3 hours of the onset of stroke symptoms. The real-time access to the neurologist allows NCH patients to receive advanced stroke treatment when time is the most critical.
