In the fight against cancer, every little bit helps. Visit nch.org/donate to help us make a difference.
Every year, lung cancer kills more than 160,000 people—more than the number of breast, prostate and colon cancer victims combined. Juli Aistars, APN, is a nurse navigator for lung cancer patients at Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) and she wants to change that grim statistic. This summer, Juli has put on her running shoes to help make a difference. She is running to raise funds for NCH initiatives that support the prevention and early detection of lung cancer.
A seasoned runner, Juli is scheduled to run four 100-mile events this summer in the "Midwest Grand Slam." Juli completed her first run in June at the Kettle Moraine 100 Endurance Run. You can follow Juli's journey on her special Facebook page, "Running to Hold Back Lung Cancer." Most importantly, she hopes you'll support her by contributing to a cause close to her heart.
You can also visit nch.org/donate to help Juli beat lung cancer. Just type "Juli's Run" under special instructions. Please consider pitching in with a gift of $20, $40 or $100—that comes out to just a nickel, a dime or a quarter per mile for the total of 400 miles she's running this summer.
Juli and her team at NCH offer proven tools for "kicking" lung cancer. Here's what your gift will help fund at NCH:
Early Detection: A National Cancer Institute study showed a low-dose CT scan for those at high risk is the best way to detect lung cancer early—and to change an often-fatal diagnosis to a curable one. Despite this proof, most health insurance plans don't pay for the CT scans—so NCH offers them at a discounted price. Do you have a history of smoking? Call 847.618.3700 to get screened now.
