As the Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Scogna is responsible for the management and operations of Northwest Community Healthcare. While
advancing the organization’s mission, vision and strategic priorities, he oversees all hospital activities. NCH is an award-winning hospital, with
nationally recognized physicians, state-of-the-art technology, and inpatient and outpatient services that provide care to more than 400,000 patients in
Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
Steve has over 25 years as a senior healthcare executive and joined NCH in 2011 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He was responsible
for Finance, Treasury, Revenue Cycle, Legal, Compliance and the implementation of operational improvement strategies.
Prior to joining NCH, Steve served as CEO of Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, Ill. In this role, he was responsible for strategic leadership and
Steve was Provena Health System’s Vice President of Finance, providing overall direction for the system’s revenue cycle operations, including managed care
contracting, third-party reimbursement, patient financial services, registration, financial assistance, and coding and documentation standardization.
Previously, Steve was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Frankford Health Care System, a member of the Jefferson Health System,
Philadelphia; Vice President, Managed Care for the Eastern Region of Catholic Health Initiatives; and Treasurer and Vice President of Finance for St. Mary
Medical Center, Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
Steve began his career as a senior consulting manager for Ernst & Young’s Philadelphia health care practice. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial
Management Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Steve has had Board of Trustee appointments in numerous Health Systems,
Hospitals, Captive Insurance Companies and Skilled Nursing Facilities.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Villanova University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
During his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife watching their son participate in baseball and basketball leagues. Steve and his family also
enjoy traveling to many places around the United States. “While my favorite time is with my family, I also enjoy playing a round of golf, going to the
movies, reading novels and listening to many types of music.”
