NCH achieves 2023 Healthgrades Pulmonary Care Excellence Award™ for 7th year in a row

NCH today announced that it has been recognized for the seventh straight year as a 2023 Pulmonary Care Excellence Award™ recipient by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Awards recognize the top 10% of hospitals across the country in 17 specialty care areas. This achievement reflects NCH’s outstanding clinical outcomes for Pulmonary Care and distinguishes NCH as one of the nation’s leading hospitals for pulmonary care. NCH also received Five-Star Distinctions in:

• Treatment of Heart Attack for 5 years in a row (2019-2023)
• Treatment of Heart Failure for 8 years in a row (2016-2023)

Earlier this year, NCH received the Patient Safety Excellence Award for a second year in a row (2021-2022).

Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals for specialty care. This year’s analysis revealed significant variation in patient outcomes between hospitals with a 2023 Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Award and hospitals that did not receive the award. From 2019-2021, patients treated at hospitals receiving the Pulmonary Care Excellence Award™ have, on average, a 53.0% lower mortality risk compared to treatment in hospitals that did not receive the award.
