Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) is a 2022 recipient of Healthgrades’ America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™. The honor places NCH among the top two percent of all hospitals for clinical care and patient outcomes across more than 31 of the most common procedures and conditions. It also marks the second year in a row that NCH has received the accolade. Additionally, NCH has received the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care for 6 years in a row (2017-2022)—this, among several other awards:
“To be recognized on a national level from Healthgrades speaks to the culture we have built at NCH,” said NCH Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President, Tom Oryszczak, D.O. “Although we’ve spent a considerable effort the last two years battling the challenges of the COVID pandemic, NCH teammates have joined together to maintain the highest standards in patient safety and healthcare quality. This culture of quality and patient safety is collectively shared by everyone at NCH, and is also demonstrated throughout NorthShore University HealthSystem. This continues to be a collective effort of everyone in this organization serving community focused care.”
Healthgrades reports that from 2018-2020, patients treated in hospitals that achieved the top 100 honor on average had a 25.4 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award, as measured across 17 rated conditions and procedures where mortality is the outcome. In fact, if all hospitals as a group performed similarly to NCH and others on the award list, nearly 163,000 lives could potentially have been saved.*
“We are proud to recognize Northwest Community Healthcare as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2022,” said Brad Bowman, M.D., Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. “As an America’s 100 Best Hospital, NCH’s clinical performance and patient outcomes outpaced nearly all other hospitals in the country. We believe these distinguished hospitals are leading the industry and setting the standard for providing safe and quality care.”
