January 22, 2019

NCH gets U.S. News and World Report best hospital rating

NCH has been ranked as one of the best hospitals in the state by U.S. News & World Report. The annual ranking of Best Hospitals recognizes facilities that excel in treating the most challenging patients. Specifically, NCH was lauded with four High Performing Hospitals Awards for Colon Cancer Surgery, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Heart Failure and Knee Replacement. Among 200 hospitals in the state of Illinois, NCH ranked #19.

“We are proud to consistently be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for providing expert care,” says NCH President and CEO Stephen Scogna. “NCH utilizes the latest innovations and best practices and we’re proud of our physicians, nurses and staff who continually offer high-quality, compassionate care to patients right here in the community.”

According to its website, U.S. News & World Report analyzes data from nearly 5,000 medical centers and survey responses from more than 30,000 physicians to rank hospitals in 16 adult specialties including cancer, diabetes, rheumatology and more. Nationally, only 158 hospitals ranked in at least one of the specialties in 2018/2019.

Meanwhile, NCH is one of only 18 hospitals in Illinois to receive the 2019 Blue Distinction® Center+ for Cardiac Care Accreditation from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois. This notable accreditation is given for providing a full range of cardiac care services, including inpatient cardiac care, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac catheterization and cardiac surgery.
