Groups and Services

Breast Cancer Support Group

Breast cancer survivors and the women in their lives who support them are invited to attend this monthly gathering. The group generally meets the first Wednesday of the month, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in Radiation Oncology at NCH. Crafts and Cancer Support Group

“Craft” away in this group open to anyone affected by cancer! You may crochet, knit, make jewelry, embroider, cross-stitch, scrapbook, etc. If you are new to crafts, tips and guidance will be shared. This is a relaxed group and will allow you to work at your own pace, either on a new or existing project. You will have the opportunity to learn more about various crafts as you share, and enjoy the company of others. Kathy Vehlow, R.N. will be facilitating the group. Guided Imagery for those Affected by Cancer

This group is for cancer survivors, and their loved ones who are looking to increase their sense of well being, balance and comfort. This group is open to those who are newly diagnosed, going through treatment, have completed treatment, or have a loved one with cancer. Join Diane Sullivan, M.S., LPC, C.H., as she leads the group in using relaxation techniques and visualization. The only requirement is that you are willing to enjoy the feeling of relaxation. Head & Neck Cancer Support Group

This support group is for anyone with head and neck cancer (cancers inside the mouth, nose or throat) and their family and friends. The group generally meets on the fourth Thursday of the month. Leukemia, Lymphoma and other Blood-Related Disorders Support Group

A support group for those with blood-related disorders, their families and friends, meets the second Wednesday of each month, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in Radiation Oncology. The group discusses issues related to leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and any other blood-related disorders. Anyone affected by these diseases, including family and friends, are encouraged to attend. The group is facilitated by Kim Jensen, LCSW, OSW-C. Co-sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Men with Cancer

This group provides a time for men to share personal experiences and common concerns. This group meets the third Wednesday of the month, from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in Radiation Oncology. Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) Support Group

This support group is open to all MDS patients, their families and friends. The group provides opportunities to exchange thoughts and ideas on dealing with MDS. The class meets on the third Tuesday of the month, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Radiation Oncology. (Please note that this group does not meet in November and December.)

Pancreas, Hepatobiliary, Esophageal, and Gastric Cancer Support Group

This support group is for anyone with a pancreas, liver, bile duct, esophageal or stomach cancer, as well as their family and friends. The group meets the first Tuesday of the month, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Radiation Oncology. Survivorship Class Series
