The da Vinci® Surgical System is state-of-the-art robotic technology that translates the surgeon's expert hand motions into precise movements of the tiny surgical instruments inside the patient's body.
That's what the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System is all about: Helping experienced, board-certified NCH surgeons do what they do best—with even greater precision.
Best of all, by utilizing da Vinci's technically advanced robotic arms and precise 3D imaging with up to 10x magnification, NCH surgeons are able to successfully carry out even the most complex and delicate operations through incisions as small as one to two centimeters.
Tiny incisions. Less pain. Less blood loss. Faster recovery.
The da Vinci Robotic Surgical System is changing the way patients experience surgery at NCH.
For a growing number of complex prostate, kidney, gynecological, urological and colorectal conditions, da Vinci robotic surgery is becoming the minimally invasive surgery of choice at NCH. In fact, NCH was named a Robotic Surgery Epicenter for benign gynecologic surgery, making the Robotic Gynecologic Surgery Institute at NCH the first of its kind the first in the tri-state area of Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.
The Next Generation of Robotic Surgery is Here
NCH is the first and only hospital in the Chicago area to get the newest minimally invasive robotic technology, the da Vinci Xi. Through a few small incisions, the da Vinci Xi Surgical System provides a natural extension of the surgeon’s eyes and hands. The Xi technology is particularly useful in highly-complex surgeries such as colorectal procedures. The newly-designed robotic arms and tiny instruments provide long reach and better anatomical access. Additionally, the boom-mounted system provides flexibility, allowing placement of the surgical cart at any position around the patient. This means that the mobility of the boom saves the surgeon time from having to reposition the robot if it becomes necessary to view other parts of the anatomy.
