Created to meet the need to diagnose and treat pancreatic issues early – when patients benefit the most – Northwest Community Healthcare recently introduced the Pancreatic Cyst Clinic.

Most pancreatic cysts are incidentally discovered during a Computerized Tomography (CT) scan or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Most of these cysts are abnormal growths or “cystic neoplasms.” Some have little potential for transforming into cancer whereas others have a significant risk of doing so. Some cysts require endoscopic ultrasound for biopsy.

Willis G. Parsons, M.D., is the Director of the Pancreatic Cyst Clinic. He practices with the Endeavor Health Medical Group. With more than 30 years of experience in Gastroenterology, he has performed over 25,000 EUS and ERCP procedures – one of the largest in the country. “While most pancreatic cysts will not transform into cancer, it is important to establish a diagnosis and create a monitoring plan,” Dr. Parsons says. “We can remove the uncertainty and anxiety that usually accompanies the finding of a pancreatic cyst.”
