New Out Patient Care Center opens more opportunities for NCH and NorthShore communities

Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) is proud to announce on Sept. 9 the newly constructed Buffalo Grove Outpatient Care Center will open its doors to patients, providing a shared home for both NCH and eventually, NorthShore Medical Group clinicians.

The four-story, 80,000-square-foot location is directly across the parking lot from the existing NCH building at McHenry and Lake Cook Roads. An important symbol of partnership integration, this new facility provides a next step in bolstering community-connected care by growing NorthShore’s reach and expanding access where there is a need. “This location will be our largest off-campus presence and provides enhanced clinical capacity in the communities we serve,” noted NCH Vice President of Hospital Operations Rich Casey, who is co-leading the project with NCH Vice President of Physician Operations Sue Nelson, M.D. The first services will move to the new site from NCH’s current 15 S. McHenry Road building.

As of September 9 the facility will include immediate care, lab, X-ray, mammography and physical rehab services. In early October, those departments will be joined by NCH Medical Group Primary Care and Specialty Care; WomanCare at NCH; Behavioral Health; and CT, ultrasound and MRI imaging services. The NorthShore Medical Group office in Buffalo Grove (Primary Care and OB/GYN) will relocate to the fourth floor of the new Outpatient Care Center in mid-December. “It’s been exciting to collaborate with our NorthShore colleagues on our first shared site,” Dr. Nelson said. “Our combined focus has been on patient access, convenience, quality and experience.”

The Center will offer comprehensive services and advanced technologies, including the GE 3-tesla wide-bore MRI scanner, which uses a larger magnet and offers improved image quality, especially for smaller areas of the body such as fingers and wrists. It also has a wider opening for larger patients or those who may be claustrophobic. In addition, the mammography space will feature all screening modalities in one place, including DEXA scan for bone density and automated whole-breast ultrasound.
