NorthShore Accepting Community Investment Fund Applications

Evanston, Illinois – NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore), including Swedish Hospital (Swedish) and Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH), is accepting applications for its third round of Community Investment Fund (CIF) partnerships. NorthShore plans to distribute up to $5 million to local partners that promote health equity and community health, wellbeing and economic security.

NorthShore’s support has enabled its partners to have a tremendous impact in their local communities. Outcomes include expanding the availability of behavioral health services, matching students with job opportunities in healthcare and improving community access to vital health services. The application process is now open, and submissions will be accepted through Friday, August 25, 2023. Fund recipients will be announced in January 2024. As a prominent feature of NorthShore’s 2022 merger with Edward-Elmhurst Health, each organization committed $100 million to their CIF, for a total of $200 million in principal funds, which will generate millions of dollars annually to support their communities. Earlier this year, NorthShore awarded $4 million dollars across 15 organizations in Lake and Cook Counties to help address priority needs including bi-cultural medical care, help for survivors of domestic violence and support for those with food insecurity. Together, to date, NorthShore –Edward-Elmhurst Health has awarded $10.6 million for 30 local partnerships.
