Association’s Get With The Guidelines Program recognizes proven dedication to best practices and life-saving care

Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) has received three American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines® awards for its commitment to using the most current research-based protocols for the treatment of heart disease, Afib and stroke. The awards recognize NCH’s dedication to best practices that ultimately lead to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer hospital readmissions.

“NCH always strives to provide the highest standard of care for our patients, including adhering to the latest treatment guidelines for heart attacks and strokes,” said Steve Scogna, NCH CEO and President. “The Get With The Guidelines programs make it easier for our teams to incorporate proven knowledge and practices into our daily care protocols, which help our patients longer, healthier lives.”

This year, NCH received these achievement awards:

  • Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
  • Get With The Guidelines® Heart Failure Gold Plus Award with Target: HF and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
  • Get With The Guidelines® AFIB Gold Award

“We are pleased to recognize NCH for its commitment to [following] the American Heart Association’s quality improvement protocols… a win for health care systems, families and communities,” said John Warner, M.D., FAHA, past president of the American Heart Association and executive vice president for health system affairs at UT Southwestern Medical Center, in Dallas.

Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in the United States, respectively. Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. suffers a stroke or heart attack. Studies show patients can recover better when providers consistently follow treatment guidelines.
