What you need to know about Northwest Community Pharmacy: Get answers to physicians’ commonly asked questions

January 24, 2018

Pharmacy Manager Sean Gale

Our new pharmacy opened on January 2, located on the first floor of the Busse Center lobby across from Patient Registration. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. The pharmacy accepts most major insurance plans and copays vary based on individual plans. NCH employees receive 10 percent off their over-the-counter purchases.

Pharmacy Manager Sean Gale is streamlining the prescription process for physicians. As he visits prescribers, he’ll be distributing two helpful documents to help physicians navigate through the system. Sean also has provided his answers to common prescription questions below.

Q: How do physicians send prescriptions to you?

A: We are in Epic as Northwest Community Pharmacy. Physicians or nurses need to make sure they are not in ‘inpatient’ mode when looking for the pharmacy. Otherwise, MDO can fax or call me to send in a prescription.

Q: Are there any medications you can’t get?

A: I don’t do advanced compounding, and I will be working on getting liquid vancomycin, but otherwise I can order just about anything.

Q: What are the services that the pharmacy offers?

A: Later in 2018, we’ll be offering a Med-to-Bed service. If patients want to use us in the meantime, they can send a family member down to pick up the prescriptions.

Q: How can I find out more about the prescription process?

A: Take a look at our worksheets for e-prescribing and entering the NCH pharmacy.
