Pulmonary Rehab
Our American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation-certified program is located on our hospital campus inside our state-of-the-art Wellness Center. A physician referral is required to participate in our Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. The goal of our program is to help people with chronic lung disorders lead fuller, healthier lives. Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation benefits include:
- A supportive environment, offering close interaction with our professional staff and the camaraderie of other patients
- Emphasis on prevention of disease complications, self-management and healthy lifestyles
- Support to help you break the frustrating cycle caused by chronic lung disorders that lead to inactivity
Phase II Rehabilitation
Our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, respiratory therapists and exercise physiologists, works closely with you two to three times a week for six to 12 weeks (length is determined on an individual basis). During this time:
- Your oxygen saturation levels are monitored frequently
- An individualized plan of care will be developed with you to raise your level of physical and social functioning
- You’ll participate in supervised exercise using state-of-the-art equipment, designed to increase your strength and endurance
- You’ll attend both individual and group education sessions intended to assist with breathing retraining, lifestyle modification, disease management and improving your emotional outlook
Phase III Rehabilitation
Phase III is a supervised exercise program under the guidance of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation staff. As part of this ongoing exercise and education program, you will continue to improve your disease self-management skills and exercise more independently in a supportive environment.
Our team checks your oxygen saturation levels regularly. We provide assessments of your progress and are available to answer questions or concerns you may have.
For graduates of Pulmonary Rehabilitation, the Wellness Center provides independent exercise options and benefits. We also are able to provide those who complete our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program additional help in creating a custom, post-graduation exercise program.
