More notes of gratitude

December 16, 2020

As a community-focused health organization, we want you to know NCH is so much more than a business, an employer, a healthcare provider, a wellness center, a pharmacy, a trauma center, a dedicated pediatric emergency department, a lab and a rehabilitation facility. We are a family.

Members of our executive team want to share their gratitude and admiration for our team members with you, our patients and community members. Happy Holidays!

Alan B. Loren, M.D., PhD
Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
At NCH 34 years, Chief Medical Officer for six

“There are so many people who have worked so hard to get us through this crisis, it is difficult to name specific groups. We have all been stressed beyond belief and words simply cannot express how appreciative and proud I am of our organization. For me personally, I have been very involved with the Infection Prevention Team and saw first-hand how skilled they are in managing a pandemic. I am convinced we are in a far better place because of this team, their collective knowledge and their efforts on a daily basis. In many ways they are the silent heroes of this crisis.

“My wish is for each of you and your families to stay safe and healthy throughout this holiday season. After all you have done for our patients and our community, you deserve to have a joyous, healthy and happy holiday season.”

John L. Skeans
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Five years at NCH

“I am privileged to be a part of the team responsible for the System’s Revenue Cycle, Managed Care Contracting, Supply Chain and Accounting. Their high level of performance not only drives profitability but also the overall patient experience. They make a difference at NCH every day.

“I wish that each employee have a blessed and safe holiday season.”

Eileen Gillespie, DPN, R.N.
Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer
Two years at NCH

“During this season of thanks, I want to recognize our Nursing Teams, Respiratory Care Practitioners, Social Work and all other clinical and support staff at NCH. During this most challenging of years, each of you has worked tirelessly to support one another while continuing to provide the excellent care that our patients and the community have come to expect of NCH. Thank you for all you do each and every day. You truly are heroes!”

Rich Casey, M.S., FACHE
Vice President, Hospital Operations
Five years at NCH

“I’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate the incredible blend of dedication and creativity the Hospital Operations team has shown these past nine months. This team orchestrated a temporary closure of some outpatient and support services while simultaneously supporting the increased demands on our inpatient clinical needs. We found ways to operationalize new infection control systems and processes across our various sites of care, learned new skills to support needs in areas we weren’t hired into and re-established services safely to care for our community and support our medical staff. Nine months and counting, thank you for demonstrating to each other and to our patients what the word Community means in Northwest Community Healthcare.

“My holiday wish is for all teams to use the season and the time with our families to reflect, recharge and recommit to the ongoing support we provide to those that are impacted by the COVID-19 virus and need us most.”

Glen Malan
Vice President of Technology and Chief Information Officer
Seven years at NCH

“I was admitted to NCH with COVID-19 this year – it was a tough time for me. However, during the experience I saw first-hand how competent, kind and wonderful our NCH caregivers, employees and management are. It meant so much to me and I was truly touched by the entire experience. I was and still am so thankful to our IT team for the amazing way they responded to every request they received during this crisis and how competently the IT team handled everything that came their way. The end result is that I am both thankful to everyone who works at NCH and so proud of our caregivers and my own team for the support they showed me and the ‘can-do’ attitude and skill they bring to work every day.

“Happy Holidays to every one of you and thank you for making my life easier this year when I needed you more than ever!”
