Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) is proud to announce the release of the 2017 Community Benefit Report which details how the hospital has helped to care for patients and neighbors in the northwest suburbs.

In 2017, NCH directed $59.2 million to enhance the health and welfare of those in need in the community. Of those funds, $43 million was spent on government-sponsored programs caring for our Medicaid and Medicare patients. Another $9.6 million was allocated to charity care; $2.7 million on education; $1.4 million on subsidized health services; $1.1 million on volunteer services; $599,000 on language assistance services; $426,000 on donations; $275,000 on other community benefits and $132,000 on research.

"NCH not only cares for its patients but for everyone who lives and works in the community," says Director of Community Services Karen Baker. "We provide extensive outreach programs such as a Mobile Dental Clinic, Community Nursing Program and by operating a community resource center."

One of the significant community benefits extended by NCH is its leadership in Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

"NCH was the first EMS Resource Hospital in Illinois and since 1972 has led a transformative and innovative multi-disciplinary team of over 1500 hospital and out-of-hospital healthcare professionals working for 24 EMS agencies and six hospitals providing evidence-based, person-centered EMS care. In 2017, NCH responded to over 72,000 requests for assistance," says Connie Mattera, EMS Administrative Director and System Coordinator.

The hospital's service area includes residents of Arlington Heights, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Lake Zurich, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Palatine, Prospect Heights, Schaumburg and Wheeling.
