Why boost?

February 14, 2022

We are continuing our series with members of the NCH Community who want others to know their reason for getting their COVID-19 vaccine booster.

Name: Alice Brown
Title: Internal Communications, Recognition and Engagement Manager
Department: Human Resources
Current hometown: Arlington Heights
Why I got boosted: I’ve worked at NCH for almost eight years, and I have the honor and privilege of supporting our frontline team members. I also lead the NCH choir, a group of employee volunteers who sing to lift the spirits of our colleagues, patients and community. Due to COVID-19, we’ve had to cancel many events that brought joy, hope and healing to the NCH family. I got vaccinated so that someday soon we can gather together without masks to sing again. Music is a sort of magic – it’s medicine for the soul!

In layman’s terms, a booster adds increased protection from severe disease.

Boosters are now available at NCH for anyone age 12+ who have completed their second dose of Pfizer more than 5 months ago; or for those age 18+ who have completed their second dose of Moderna more than 5 months ago.

NCH is providing booster doses at our COVID-19 VACCINE CLINIC located at 3060 Salt Creek Lane, Arlington Heights. Presently, appointments for Pfizer are on Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments for Moderna are on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There are three ways to schedule your booster:

  1. If you have a MyChart account, login at nch.org/mychart and select a date, time and location to schedule your booster dose.
  2. Make an appointment directly on our website here.
  3. Call 847-618-0242 to schedule an appointment at the NCH COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic. If you have received your first two doses elsewhere and want your booster through NCH, please call the number to schedule an appointment.

If you’ve already been vaccinated and boosted, whether at NCH or another healthcare provider, we thank you!
